Make up my mind!
I'm incredebly tired right now, mainly because my
wife kept me up half the night (it's still weird saying "wife") trying
to book hotel rooms. We're going to DC for the weekend to
celebrate my in-law's 25th wedding anniversary and obviously needed to
get rooms. We decided we didn't want to stay in crummy hotels, so
we originally booked a Hilton in Herndon VA at a fairly reasonable
rate. The only thing is Herndon is about 25 minutes from downtown
DC, not quite where we wanted to be. So last night we found
another hotel only 3 miles from the center of town (and all the
monuments) at a fairly comparable rate so we had to book that one then
cancell the other hotel rooms we booked (four rooms in all).
Normally the driving wouldn't bother me (or anyone for that matter), but Joni's Grandmother is coming also as she hasn't been. Her legs aren't that great anymore and car rides are more painful then standing so we figured we'd stay close and just take the metro or cabs. Joni and I have been to DC many times together and I've been there many more times before we ever met so DC isn't going to be all that exciting for me, but it will be fun to see the expressions on everyone's face when they see the monuments and memorials for the first time. I'll be sure to take many pictures!
So not much new going on otherwise. Our church is putting together a directory of parishoners and I'm part of the committee that oversees the whole thing. The only issue is there isn't anyone to lead the project. I think everyone is reluctant to volunteer because of all the time and energy that will be required to pull this off. I'm going to keep quiet for a few more days, but if by next tuesday no one has stepped forward I will take it on. I'm sure you are thinking "why not just volunteer now", well I would but the problem is I don't have much availability during the day. So during normal business hours I wouldn't get much accomplished, that's my main reason for staying quiet, but if no one steps up, I will.
