What a let down
Well, it was a pretty interesting weekend, to say the least. That hurricane, Charlie, was a complete and total bust as far as NC is concerned. I see that it did a lot of damage to Florida, and I think that is absolutely horrible, but for all they hyping they did here, it was a complete and total let down... It rained more the day *after* the hurricane then it did when we were supposed to get mangled! Not that we let it stop our plans, did a little shopping at the mall, went to dinner, played cards, then went bowling with friends. Pretty much a typical Saturday for us.
Yesterday, however I was suckered into going to see the third Harry Potter movie with Joni. It wouldn't have been my first choice in movies, but it was playing at the Imax theater and I've wanted to take her their for some time now. She was actually the one who suckered me...it can't be a good thing when she knows that I'm a sucker for her sad face. So we went...the movie was alright, entertaining so I wasn't miserable the whole time, but the theater was a let down. I've seen several Imax features and Harry Potter isn't one that takes full advantage of their offerings. It was a wide-screen movie so it didn't use the top and bottom of the screen, and the sound was only mediocre. All in all it wasn't worth the $10 to see the movie, but we know for next time.
I'm still a little embarrassed about my slip-up the other day. I pay such close attention to all the details here at work and to let something similar slip up at home is just totally unacceptable. So I have a new backup policy on our home network. EVERYTHING but the standard executables is now being backed up to not one, but two places. All emails, databases, websites, ftp sites, "My Documents", configuration files, songs, home directories, and pictures are all being sent to two different servers every night so short of our apt catching fire and all 5 computers being incinerated, we'll be able to get back up and running in a matter of hours! I'll not be caught with my pants down again!
