Non-nerds beware!
I enjoy my job, contrary to what any of you may think, but I especially
like it when every one is dependant on me to solve thier issues.
This morning has been the perfect example. I came in early to
setup a UPS I bought the other day and noticed that one of our
two networks is down. While I am the Network Administrator for
one of them I am not for this particular network, although I do manage
the cabling and outlets. The parent company has network support
person who manages that line and he's slow and not too bright.
Regardless, as people started trickling in they were noticing that they
didn't have internet access. We put all the non-technical
employees on the shared network as they don't really need the
bandwidth, nor do they need public IP addresses. Since my
workstation is on both network (for monitoring purposes), I quickly
setup a router and changed their default gateways accordingly.
Everyone has access and they are all incredibly greatful to me!
What a warm and toasty feeling!
So how was my weekend? Pretty damn good actually! We took Jennifer swimming when her mother dropped her off then went to Chuck E Cheese's for dinner and played EVERY single game, and then some! I haven't been to one of those for probably 15 years, and it hasn't changed a bit. Jennifer had a blast and didn't want to leave...but almost the second we got in the car...she passed out! I'd say she had a good time!
The cheese-fest was a huge success! We watched four movies spanning most of Segal's career, ate like kings and drank like fish! The night started at 6 and we sat infront of the TV, beer in hand, for the next 7 hours. I finally got to bed around 1:30 and was even able to get up for church on Sunday!
Our next event is Philly this weekend! I'll tell you more about that later though...
