He Lied???
I know you are probably wondering why on earth didn't I post
yesterday. It is actually the first time since I started
'blogging that I haven't posted on a weekday. Truth be told, I
did have a post all ready to go, but I was so angry that I thought I
better sit on it for a day and see if I still felt the same way.
For the most part I do so with out further ado here is my post with a
minimal of editing:
So I was listening to a radio program yesterday and I heard someone bring up the whole "He lied to us"..."the war in Iraq is a sham"...and I have to be honest that just boils my blood. Perhaps they didn't find the stockpile of WMD that was thought to be there, not that they didn't find any, just not enough for the liberal media to get excited about. But to say that we were lied to? I don't feel in the least we were lied to, did Iraq have the capabilities to produce WMD? YES. Were they warned that continually refusing to comply with UN orders would lead to an invasion? YES! Did Iraq play host to Al-Quaida training camps? YES! Is there hard evidence that Saddam committed crimes against his own people including murder, rape and torture? YES! So are we to just stand by and let it all continue while the UN hems and haws and makes idle threats? Meanwhile these training camps are graduating their next wave of suicide bombers (or pilots or whatever)? We've tightened security on our boarders and took the war to them!
To be quite frank, I'm glad the fighting is there and not here. Would you wrather we end up like Russia? Terrorists strapping bombs to themselves then covering the bomb with nuts and bolts and detonating it in the middle of a populated subway entrance? How'd you like to be eating outside at your favorite cafe and have that happen? As sad as it is, I'm kind of glad that we didn't have another hijacked/bomb laden plane crash land in our back yard!
And when President Bush says that we can never truly win the war on terror, what is there such an uproar for? There will always be a wacko or two who's willing to strap a bomb on his/her back and claim it's thier god's work. So truly the war on terror is not a war on a clear enemy, but a war on individuals that can spring up at any given time! W is right...we can never win, but we can do our best to keep them busy in their own country instead of ours!
