Getting my way...
So as all of you know I've been busting my butt lately for work and
it's taken a bit of a toll on my personal life. So we planned a
get away weekend to the mountains where we'll just be the two of us and
nature. I'm sure that we'll have some of the creature comforts
like TV, but the purpose of this trip is simply to get away from
work...I'm not even turning my cellphone on while I'm there. I
spoke with Colin and he agreed to give me this Friday off without
charging me a vacation day. There's of course a catch to all of
this...the biggest one being that next week I"m going to probably put
in nearly 100 hours getting this move squared away. That's in
addition to this past week where I figure myself at almost 65
hours. I think I've earned it...
We picked up the rental car today, you should have seen the look on Joni's face when I told her I was going to take the rental (even though all along I fully intended to let her drive it for the week) and she got the Durango. So she took off in the car and not two miles down the road she's buzzin me on the phone complaining about the car. The nerve! It's a 2005 Dodge Stratus, nothing fancy, but what do you want for $16/day. We originally thought the rental rate was $80/day, but I guess the date range I plugged in was for the weekend so the rate was higher. So we'll drop the car off Thursday morning and we should be able to pick Joni's Cavalier up Friday beforew we leave town for the weekend.
I helped Andre do his "structured" wiring yesterday, I use the term structured loosely because it's really only structured on the second floor, but what ever...that took much less time then I anticipated and we hit a string of good luck when we were able to drop a line from the second floor straight to the crawlspace in about 5 minutes. The rest was just tacking the cable out of the way...piece of cake. We also helped Ray into his new appartment later that afternoon, it's a nice place that will double as a storage facility as they start hunting for a new house on this side of town. They live in Holly Springs, but both work in the RTP area and the drive every morning can be overwhelming. So it's a bit of a sacrifice now, but in the end they'll be better off. Well, back to work...duty calls...
