Wireless internet
This post is coming to you courtesy Sprint PCS's
Vision Connection Card. A cellphone of sorts for your
laptop. I know many phones can connect to a laptop and act like a
modem, but that means they must dialup and we all know what those
speeds are like. This isn't quite DSL or cable modem, but it's
definately better then dialup. I'll be on the road for the next
few days shuttleing between here and PA, my company thought it would be
a good idea if I took the laptop card so that I have no excuse not to
work while on vacation... This card, however, is badass, its a
Merlin c201 which works extremely well with both Windows and Linux
which is just fine in my book! If you are strapped for internet
access and can get Sprint PCS signal, then it is definately an
alternative to dialup over cellphone. When the nextel wireless
becomes available, we'll definately switch to that as it's said to
rival cable modem speeds. Won't that be awsome!
I am incredibly tired right now, I hope this post ends up making sense to you all. I had to work from 11-3 last night (in addition to working from 8-2 yesterday morning) and I have to go back in tonight. I probably could have done it all last night, but I didn't think I would get nearly as far as I did so I didn't bring all the equiptment I needed. So tonight, the cable management goes in and I tidy up the remaining wires and I'm done! I now have an extra 24 port 10/100 layer2 switch at my disposal, but I can't find any information on the effect of daisy chaining a 10/100 switch with a 10MB hub, so I guess I'll just have to wait on that.
