I'm finding it harder and harder to bite my tongue in regards to my church and the infinite wisdom (which somehow doesn't include anything about computers) of the communications committee.  It seems every time I turn around they are trying to replace the tool I wrote with something commercial.  What they don't understand is that there's nothing that tool does that mine doesn't also.  It's like there hell bent on spending several hundred dollars for a few people to be able to edit some text...they can already to that for free!!!  I've repeatedly asked them to *show* me what they would like to see added to my tool to make it easier etc..but haven't received one suggestion.  The few suggestions I have received all involve page layout changes...which I can do...but they think something like "Contribute" will take care of it all for them...well it doesn't...dumb bastards.  Oh well.  I've made my mind up that if they purchase something like that and put it in play then I'm done with their site...  The part that really chaps my ass is that the ones who are most vocal don't have a friggin clue on how to even use a computer.  I think I've said it before...a degree in journalism or working for a newspaper doesn't make you a website designer or website anything.  I don't know.  I just need to breathe deeply and see what happens.  I feel better already.
