So we paid $2.96/gallon last night..and I'm glad we did it then as compared to waiting until today.  One gas station is now charging $3.29/gal which is almost a $1/gal jump in two days.  Maybe now all the naysayers will recognize that we have a serious gas issue.  Just a week ago it seemed that every new station (including my "right wing, ultra conservative" one) brought on some professor to refute the high gas prices claiming that adjusted for inflation prices aren't really at an all time high.  Well I don't give a shit about the 1980's..I care about now..and it was ourageous at $2.45/gal and is even more so at $3+.  I've seriously had to reconsider our travel plans for this weekend as it will now cost us nearly $200 to get to the shore and back, not to mention whatever the Jetski's take while we're there.  And that's assuming that we can even get gas for them.  I'm sure someone will come on the news and claim that things really aren't that bad and when you adjust for the stone age, we're better off now then we were 1.2 million years ago. 

I'm currently looking at strategies to conserve gas, I've already told Joni that neither of us will be making mid-day trips anymore.  It's work, and home; any errands we need to run MUST be run on the way to or from work.  Once we're home, we're staying home.  I'll let someone else do the driving for Friday lunch also or just go somewhere I can walk to.  No AC unless it's above 95 and we're not moving.  I'll also go to work late and come home late (or go early and leave early) to avoid the traffic jams.  I think by doing that we can avoid filling up for a solid week and hopefully the pipeline will be back up and flowing again.  Now if only the rest of the southeast would follow suit!
