Bad News
I just got news from my aunt that a good friend of mine died last night
in PA. He was a truck driver for Ward Trucking, his run was
Wilkes-Barre to Columbus and back. I believe he was the second
most senior man at that terminal. Not everyone liked Gary, but he was a
good man and I got along great with him. He would sling bullshit
around left and right, but wouldn't take an ounce of it from
anyone. I feel like I'm writing a euligy...Suffice it to say he
was a good man and will definately be missed.
I'm having a hell of a time getting a new system built. I spent three hours trying to get RedHat Enterprise 4 to recognize a fiber controller that appears to work fine, but the damn thing won't work. No matter what I do I can't get the installer to see the drive. I've googled the hell out of this and come up empty. I'm going to take a gamble tomorrow and install the system without the fibre array, then after install I'll be able to do a little more as far as loading drivers etc. If this approach works the great, if not I'll have pissed away a full day on this and have to switch to a standard SCSI controller...just not as elegant if you ask me. We'll see.
