@#$% ME!

Well, it started off as a good day..I got a lot of cleaning done for the house full of people we'll have this coming weekend.  I enjoyed a decent lunch at Milton's with Rob then got even more cleaning done including the downstairs bathroom (yuck!).  I tried to finish the night off with a bang by surprising Joni with tickets to the Trans Siberian Orchestra.  The show was simply amazing, I've heard many of their songs before, but seeing them in concert was totally worth the money!  I don't know any other way to describe it other then a treat for the eyes and ears.  It's apparently not a youth thing either as there were people of all ages there including Mark's 70 year old mother.

So on our way home we had to stop by Joni's work and pick up her car.  I waited for her to get the car started and then left...only I noticed that she wasn't right behind me after I turned out of her parking lot..I pulled over and waited a few seconds and still no Joni.  So I went back to see what was the hold up only to find her in the parking lot telling me the car won't go..not that it won't start..won't go.  Let me flash back to a story she told me earlier in the day, on the way to the concert.  She was telling me how she was on her way to work and tried to sneak through a yellow light and was right on the ass of a truck in front of her.  Well that big, view blocking truck straddled what Joni thinks might have been a bumper, but because she was so close to him she didn't have time to swerve so she tried to straddle it, instead running it over.  Now this is where I get pissed off...she can't describe a damn thing to me...what sounds it made..how big it was, which tires hit it...nothing...useless.  So I get in the car and try to drive and it will go...but very slow...with the engine revving high.  That's very indicative of low transmission fluid, and the check engine light is on also...so we put three quarts in and it seemed to make a bit of a difference but the check engine light never went out.  We stopped at Auto-Zone, which we were going to do anyway to get a new starter, to have them read the code and he said the error was a speed sensor...that was jiving more with Joni's "I hit something" story.  When I got the car home and in the garage I scrounged for a cardboard box to put under and see if there was a leak...by the time I got the box emptied and flattened there was a puddle of transmission fluid under the car about the size of a pizza...so I scrapped the box and threw a pan under it.  If it's leaking that fast I need to reclaim what I can, filter it and re-use it tomorrow...  This is not how I wanted to spend my damn vacation...or my money for that matter.
