Meeting famous people
Last Thursday I finally got to meet someone famous, and didn't look
like a retard doing it. I'll clarify. To date, the most famous person
I've ever met was the great Joe Paterno, I'm not saying he's not all
that famous, because he is; he's just the ONLY one I've met. We were
walking through the produce section of Walmart in State College, that
is me and a few friends, and low and behold who should come walking by,
but JoePa! All we could muster up was a "Oh my gosh, it's JoePa". He
was so approachable, he smiled and walked by us and said "Hey Guys,
how's it goin?", but the best the four of us could do was "Hey." (note
the lack of an exclamation point) So we totally botched that attempt
to shake his hand, get an autograph, etc.
This time however, I wasn't about to let opportunity pass me by. I was invited to go to a charity bowling event featuring several NFL players. So I went bowling and got to meat, Donavan McNabb, Marshall Faulk, Torry and Terrance Holt, Ki-Jana Carter (former Penn Stater), Deon Sanders, Brian Williams, and a few others that I can't remember. This time I promised myself I wouldn't be as dumbfounded as the "Paterno Incident" and I wasn't. I even got one of the players (Brian Williams) bowling jersey and had him sign it. I was one person away from getting McNabb's too. I didn't think if it until it was too late, but next year I'll hook you up Scott, after all, what are brother-in-law's for?
