Eminent Domain
There was mention of eminent domain on the radio again this morning,
boy does that supreme court decision boil my blood! It's one of
those issues that party lines mean almost nothing...if you own property
you're affected. I think I know a way to get the supreme court to
reconsider their decision on eminent domain. I'd like to see a
wealthy developer, who believes in civil liberties, draw up a plan to
put a walmart on each of the approving justices house. I think it
could easily be shown that the economic impact of a walmart would far
outweigh the minuscule property tax dollars that a justice pays.
Even another route would be to use eminent domain to bulldoze the
supreme court, a NON-revenue producing building that is really just a
black hole for tax dollars and instead replace it with a high rise
apartment complex with the ground floor being a mini-mall. I
think we all know the revenue that could be produced with a downtown
Washington DC apartment building and with all the passers-by, the shops
would flourish! Better yet...do both!
