So long Thumper

Joni's car, thumper* has all but died today. I was on my way to work this morning and all was well until I got about a mile from the office.  As I accelerated from one light to the next the engine raced in RPM's and I lost all power...didn't matter I got stuck at another light and thought it was only a missed shift because I was slowing down.  Well as I accelerated again, I felt the shifts from first to second, then as I approached 35mph, I went from second to nothing....  I tried to dump in a little transmission fluid to no avail.  On the way home I managed to avoid all the highways and make it home in just a hair under an hour and at no point going over 45mph.  It sucked.  The good news is that Joni gets her Avalanche, we looked at a few today, but they didn't have all the features we require so we'll look again tomorrow.  It has been a fun day to say the least.

*Thumper is the name given to the car during the period where we had to kick the floor, hit the steering wheel or slam the hood to start the car.
