Long time, no post!
So I know it's been a while since I last posted...I'm sorry for that, but it's currently 2:00 am and I'm still at work...patiently waiting for a program to unfreeze so I can finish saving all our office data. I'm trying to get DFS Replication working, which essentially copies all the files from one drive to another as they are changing. I'm interested in this because it's painfully evident that our existing office server may not have many days left. I've been pushing for a while now to get a new office server so that we can have as decent a backup policy in house as we do at our datacenter...that'd be nice! Right now there's really no backup policy for the office, well except for CVS, which I do backup regularly (I don't trust that machine either). So the new server I got has 600GB of storage, is a quad core, dual processor, yes that's equivilant to 8 processors without hyperthreading turned on (16 with it) running the 64bit version of 2003 and a nice LTO autoloading tape backup machine with 10-400GB tapes loaded...SWEET! Of course I've been so damn busy lately that I've not had a chance to do anything with it until today...and I because of a failed drive, I couldn't stop halfway, I need to get the data off that machine and fast! Oh, good, the program is unfrozen and I'm now rebooting that machine...one step closer!
Just so everyone knows we've both been doing well. I celebrated Joni's birthday at the stroke of midnight, but was only able to get a "Hap.." out before the second hand changed and it was no longer her birthday
. We'll actually celebrate it tomorrow night with a trip to a nice restaurant or something! I think she'll like her birthday present, but who the heck knows...Alright, it looks like things are moving along so back to work for me.
