So I just finished talking to Joni and she went and visited the daycare we selected as our first choice and WE ARE IN!!!  Originally she said it would be difficult to get us in when we needed to be, but they could work with us so while she is sure she has an opening in June, she was willing to get us in two weeks early by moving another child up a little early.  Well now that it looks like my impatient son will be gracing us with his presence in Janurary and not February, we thought that would rule out this center.  After talking with her though she said she would guarentee us May and based on some of the other childrens progress she may be able to work with us sooner then that.  This is great news.  I'm still going to save as much time off as I can so that towards the end when Joni has to go back to work I can have time to stay home with the baby and not be doing it for free.  As it stands right now I have two weeks of vacation and sick time and will have a month when needed...and that doesn't even count the comp time I have on the books (somewhere like 15 hours).  So we should be good to go at that point...Joni may even be able to go back to work early!  She get's mad when I say that, but because we weren't planning on having a baby she wasn't on short term disability, we actually tried last January, but apparently that benefit is enrollment controlled (never at any of my employers was it, but oh well) and open enrollment wasn't until October.  I joked that when she got pregnant she should use that as a life changing event..but that would get us in the program, but they wouldn't cover it because it was a pre-existing condition.  We'll just be out of pocket, which isn't a huge deal, but if she only has to be out for 1 month unpaid instead of two then I'm all for it.  Anyway, I thought this was good enough news to share with all, I know Neidog got into daycare too so it's looking good for us all!
