Sunday Picnic

09/30/09 @ 12:01 am · By Joni Hoffman · Comments (0) · Leave one

We had a busy day on Sunday. It started with Steve having to be at work at 5:30 for a firewall change. For lunch the managers at Steve's work held a picnic for all of the employees. Since Steve was working I had to make our homemade baked beans to take and share. While I was doing this I learned one important thing about Zack - he  knows what a circle is, or to be more precise, he came into the kitchen drawing a circle in the air and saying "round circle" over and over. He never ceases to amaze me.

He did great at the picnic. He played shy with everyone as he met them but warmed up to most after a little bit. There were several kids there (probably 9 or 10 years old) that he took right to. They loved it and blew bubbles for him and played with acorns with him. He can be such a ham when he wants to be. I blew bubbles for him too but was made speechless when one bubble popped on the wand as it was coming out and Zack looks up at me very seriously and says "almost Mommy". How on earth does he know the word almost and how does he know the proper context to use it in??

The picnic spanned nap time and he was doing so well that we let him stay up. He went the entire day with only taking a 30 minute nap and didn't even get all that cranky (I expected much worse than it was).

Night, night time came early that night. As we went through our routine of kisses and hugs he tells me "love you too much". I guess he does pay attention each time I tell him "I love you so much Zack"
