We had a very busy day today. It started by dropping the boat off for its winter service at 8AM. The only problem with this is that the dealer is an hour away so I still had to get up at 6 AM on a Saturday so that we could get ready and get out of the house by 7.

After dropping off the boat we went to the North Carolina Zoo. My company sponsored an outing there today and provided lunch at Hippo Beach. It was a lot of fun. We were there for 4 to 5 hours. Zack had a great time. He loved the elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, rhinos, monkeys, and puffins (which he called muffins ). We were disappointed as some of the animals were sleeping so Zack couldn't really see them, like the grizzly bears, polar bear, arctic fox (he wanted to see the fox because of Swiper the Fox on Dora), and the snakes. He was such a trooper and actually walked around a good portion of the zoo.

The only thing he liked better than the animals were all the acorns that he found. By the end of the day we had "two big acorns" and four little ones. I think that some of them are still in his car seat from the ride home. 

When looking at the gorillas/monkeys, there were two at the top of a tall tree in front of us. One climbed down right after we got there. We watched the second for a little bit until he started to climb down too. Now, remember, gorilla butts are not the same color as the rest of their body and are hairless. I remembered this when the gorilla climbed halfway down and stopped with his butt facing us. We didn't think anything of it until Zack insisted that "monkey upside down". We tried to explain that the monkey was right side up but gave up and told him it was the monkey's bottom. He had lots of fun repeating that!

We got about 5 miles from the zoo before he fell asleep and slept the rest of the way home. He was so tuckered out! After we got home we enjoyed the PSU win over Minnesota before running to the mall. The mall was pretty uneventful until Zack counted all the way to 13 on his own!! He and I were waiting while Steve was talking to a store clerk and I asked Zack to count with me and said "1". He said "1, 2" and continued all the way to 13 before he skipped some and went to 17. What a kid!!
