We took the afternoon off today and took Zack to the State Fair. This was his first trip as we didn't make it last year. He had such a good time. We didn't eat too much junk - just some chicken fingers, french fries, and ice cream (per Zack's request - I think he inherited my love for it!). We did lots of rides but all at Zack's level. Most of these rides were cool because we only had to pay for one rider even though Steve or I went with Zack on all the rides. On the slide, we both got to go for free! Zack got to ride on the slide (twice), merry-go-round (three times), junction train, fun house (twice), swings (with Daddy), a dragon spinning ride and a fire truck and submarine that both just went up and down in a circle. He really wanted to ride the roller coaster (yelled this for all around to hear) but was too small even if Steve and I went with him. We are already looking forward to taking him back next year when he is at least 36 inches tall and can go on more of these rides.

I must say that we took Zack on the merry-go-round last weekend at the zoo and he cried the entire ride. When he kept asking for the "horsey ride" today, we thought he was crazy as he was just going to cry. He did fuss a little bit on the first ride but was much braver by the end and was actually holding onto the horse and not Mommy. By the third ride, he was a pro and had a smile on his face almost the entire time!

We couldn't take a trip to the fair and not see the animals. As we walked through the one barn, we had to stop and visit with every animal that we passed. Zack got a kick out of watching the cows eat and sleep, the horses, goats, and donkeys eat, the ducks swim in the pond, the mommy pig sleep and the piglets play, and the geese honk. He tried to climb under the fence separating us from the pens several times because he saw the hay that fell out of the pens onto the floow and wanted to give it back to the animals so that they could eat it. What a sweet little boy!

We were there for about 4 hours and it was just starting to get crowded when we left. We all had a wonderful time but were glad when we got back to the truck to go home:)
