Hurry UPS!

05/11/04 @ 2:09 pm · By Steve Hoffman · Comments (0) · Leave one
I wish the damn UPS man would hurry his ass up!  I want to go play with my truck, but am still grounded...  I didn't realize when I bought the item that it was coming from Canadia[sic.], not that it would have changed my mind, but I would have been in a different mindset regarding delivery time.
We took all our stuff to the church for their yard sale and exchanged our papershredder yesterday, that was about the extent of my excitement.  I have had to back burner my email issues for a larger issue.  DNS.
One of our customers, who should probably NOT be using a computer, screwed their DNS account up yesterday, in a big way.  They purchased their domian name from a company called InterLand two years ago, I suppose I should say, an employee of the companies' brother's friend (yeah that sounds right) purchased the domain name two years ago.  Well the employee has long since been shit-canned and took all ties to the brother and friend with her, leaving them with a domain name managed by some of the biggest morons in the world.  Their domain was setup back-asswards from the beginning...Interland is a hosting provider...only we are their host.  So they were paying interland for a hosting package that did nothing more then redirect everything to us (again, we had nothing to do with their setup).  Since the moron who setup thier account set everything up with IP addresses instead of names, if we changed IP's we had to wait a week for the changes to finally take.  Well needless to say, our customer got fed up with interland's crap and just cancelled their account (and conveniently forgot to tell us about this bold move).  So their account is now disabled, and no changes can be made (this was three months ago), and just friday InterLand did a cleanup of the zone files, and poof....they no longer exist in DNS world.  So the majority of my day was spent fighting with Interland to get the registry information (which they hold) to the registrar (a completely different company) so that I can point DNS responsibilities to us and everything will again work.  Unfortunately it could take up to three days for the changes to propegate through the internet so I just have to keep explaining to them why their email addresses don't work.  Isn't my job great?!?!
