Almost made it
So we almost made it through this fall without Zack crying over a pumpkin. Last year he hated pumpkins and cried on sight of them. This may be because he was small and the first pumpkin he saw was twice his size. I'm not sure. This year was great. A couple weekends ago we went to the pumpkin farm and he couldn't get enough of the pumpkins. Today he took his pumpkin to school for show-and-tell so he could share it with his friends. Tonight he wanted to carve a pumpkin. That is until he saw what that meant. As Steve cut into the pumpkin he got quiet. Then Steve took the top off and brought Zack to the table to look into the pumpkin. That was sort of OK until Daddy asked Zachary to touch the pumpkin and put his hand inside. This started the tears a flowing. They didn't last long but it was clear that Zack thought carving the pumpkin was a good idea as long as he was sitting on the floor drawing on his while Daddy carved the other pumpkin on the table. I don't know what he was so afraid of but all he kept saying (over and over) was "punkin yucky punkin yucky". I got some pictures of the smiles and some of the tears so I'll get them posted probably tomorrow. He did like drawing on the pumpkin so maybe there is still hope for next year...
