Heart attack

I was upstairs tonight getting ready to go to the gym when Steve went downstairs to start dinner and left Zack with me. He played in our bedroom for a couple minutes before he muttered something and left. This is not unusual as he is free to run pretty much anywhere upstairs - loving to hide and play in his closet. However, after he left, I realized that I couldn't hear what he was doing on the monitor so I went in search of him. I found him on the third step down (of our 15 steps), standing up and facing up the stairs so that he could pull the gate closed. I screamed for Steve, who came running, and tried to figure out what to do to get my hands on Zack without causing him to fall. I quickly decided to help him close the gate and slowly reach for him. I got close enough and just grabbed, leaning over the gate to hold him there until Steve could get there and pick him up. I was so relieved and shaken up that I didn't even correct Steve when he looked Zack in the eye and said "You just scared the shit out of your mommy." What a little daredevil!
