Ice Hockey
Steve started playing ice hockey again last summer. This fall he started in a local rec league that plays on Monday nights. So far this season, he has had only one game that started before 10:15. Tonight his game started at 8:45 so I kept Zack up and took him to see Daddy play. I told him when I dropped him off at daycare this morning that he was going to see Daddy play ice hockey tonight. When I picked him up I asked, "What are we going to do tonight Zack?" He immediately responded "watch Daddy play ice hockey".
Zack was such a good boy during the game and he had so much fun. He brought his hockey puck to play with while we watch the game. As Daddy was dressed in all his hockey gear Zack had a hard time picking him out from the rest of the players but when I would show Zack where Daddy was he got so excited. Steve's team was wearing their blue uniforms tonight so I kept telling Zack that Daddy was on the blue team so we should cheer for them. Then all of a sudden he yells, "Let's go blue team!" It was so cute and got laughs from all the people sitting behind us.
Zack also realized tonight that he could climb up on the big steps that they use for bleachers. This was OK until he found some corn kernels (someone obviously ate popcorn recently) and had to keep climbing down so that he could throw all the kernels in the garbage. He also spent a bunch of time running around the outside of the ice rink. There aren't many people there watching the games so he pretty much had the run of the place. I'd let him run around all he wanted until he got almost out of my sight and then would grab him. I think there is another early game next week so we will probably go again. As we stayed until the start of the third period, Zack was very tired but as we walked to the car all he kept saying was "watch Daddy play ice hockey". Zack and I were both very proud of his Daddy!!
