Black Friday

Man, am I tired! We woke up at 5 AM this morning to leave by 5:45 to go shopping in Scranton. We got to Toys 'R Us by 6:30. It was pretty busy in there but we were able to find some really good deals. After we went to Dick's Sporting Goods (which had the longest lines of the day) and then met Aunt Janie and Uncle Butch for breakfast. Now, this bears a good story.

As we weren't being too picky, we decided to meet at Denny's. When Kristy, Steve and I first arrived, I was in the process of realizing that I didn't have my wallet nor did I remember when I last saw it. Luckily, I called Mom and after several minutes of panicking over where my wallet was she found it in Zack's diaper bag. Pheww!

There was a 20-minute wait for breakfast so I put our names on the list. After 45 minutes, three trips to the hostess stand to check on our status, and watching many people come in after us and get a table before us, we finally got a table. The reason they gave us - they couldn't find an extra chair for the table since we had 5 people - what BS!!! So then we order and wait for the food. I get a waffle that comes out luke warm. Kristy gets some mozzarella sticks that are cold. I think Steve's sandwhich comes out OK. Uncle Butch didn't get his toast. But here's the best one. Aunt Janie ordered some oatmeal as part of her breakfast. When it came out it was ice cold and there was a film across the top from it sitting so long. She tastes it before we can stop her but we all convince her she doesn't have to eat the cold oatmeal. When the waitress finally comes back Aunt Janie tells her about the oatmeal but before she can say she doesn't want anymore just take it off the bill the waitress is gone. About 5 minutes later she puts a steaming bowl of oatmeal on the table. As Aunt Janies stirs it up she encounters what appears to be the film mixed into the oatmeal and our guess is that the waitress just put it in the microwave and brought the same bowl back out. We gave up on them then and just wanted to pay our bill. When I went up to the counter to pay, the person taking my money says "How was your meal today?" I looked hiim in the eyes and said "It could have been better." He says "Oh, we never like to hear that" and hands me my change. What happened to customer service and people caring about the service their restaurant is providing??

Scott was a big bum and bailed on shopping with us today. For a while Kristy said that he was dead to her (just for today) but he then he and Mari met us at Steamtown Mall and bought us pretzels so then Kristy forgave himl. We ended up having a great day and getting a lot of our Christmas shopping done.

Mom and Dad had a great time with all three boys. They played until we got home and went to Gram's for dinner. Zack loves going to "GG's house" and "Papa's house". Zack and Logan each found a flashlight to play with and after watching them have so much fun with it you wonder why you just bought all those toys. We let Zack and Logan watch Jungle Book while we fixed dinner. Zack is in love with that movie. He loves the "bear song" and can say Bear Necessities when you prompt him. He also loves to pretend to be Baloo and yell "Bagheera" at the top of his lungs. He even repeats the echo and yells "Bagheera-ra-ra-ra-ra".  He is going to be sad when we have to leave tomorrow and everyone isn't around to play with anymore.
