What a day!
I woke up this morning hearing "mommy daddy yachary" over and over on the monitor. I kept waiting for Zack to tell us he was awake but he didn't so I got curious and wondered into his room. I was hoping that I could get him to use the potty again this morning. I stood outside the door and spoke to him like normal but when he saw me he smiled but didn't stand up like he normally does. I got concerned so I went closer. He was sitting up in bed leaning back against the wall of the crib, his pajama pants were off, his diaper was unhooked on one side and was half off, there was a large wet spot on the sheet, and he was holding his had out like it had something on it. He looks at me and says "water in bed Mommy". He obviously didn't have to go potty anymore so I took the rest of the pajamas and diaper off and put him in the tub. I was planning on both giving him a bath and changing his sheets today but really wanted to wait until after breakfast to do so!
When we finally got downstairs this morning, Steve had made us scrambled eggs for breakfast. Zack ate every bite and then some yogurt. When he eats like this I wonder when the next growth spurt will happen.
After playing a little, he told me "poopy in yacharay potty Mommy" so we went right into the bathroom and I sat him on his potty. He didn't poop but he did pee. He was so excited that he went and got Daddy to show him and then wanted a candy cane for his treat. I gave him the candy cane without putting him in his high chair first which Steve quickly rectified. After he finished the candy cane and had two red hands, a messy face, sticky hand prints on his thighs (didn't have pants on just a diaper), and sticky on his toes, I think Steve made the right decision in putting him in the high chair!! Zack actually found it quite amusing to slap his leg with his sticky hands and watch how long it took for his hand to come away from his leg. No wonder, he was such a mess. Needless to say he got another shower before we let him run around again.
Zack and I had some nice snuggle time tonight when Steve was at hockey practice. We laid on the couch together and watched the Jungle Book. After he got down to play with his toys, the Jungle Book didn't hold much interest for me so I read some of my book. That worked for us until he wanted me to help him count the DVDs so he walked to the coffee table, tapped on it with his finger and said "put book down now Mommy". If that behavior doesn't scream "I'm Daddy's boy" I am not sure what will!
I think that Zack may be teething again. I'm wondering if his molars aren't coming in. He was chewing on this plastic toy tonight which wasn't that big a deal but then he started moving his finger slowly toward and away from it watching intently. I watched him before finally realizing what was going on. There was a lot of spit on the toy so he was watching the spit form a line as he would touch it then pull his finger away until it finally broke and he would touch the toy to try it again. I guess this is sort of like making spit bubbles? How am I ever going to keep up with him???
