Spirit of Christmas

We are in Oriental, NC this weekend with Mark and Linda visiting my aunt and uncle and taking in the town's Spirit of Christmas. Most of the stores set up displays and offer free food and goodies to all those that stop by. To top it off, there is a Christmas parade in the late afternoon.

While we waited for the parade to start, Steve helped Zack jump off a porch about 1 1/2 to 2 feet tall. He was apprehensive at first but after jumping a couple times with Daddy pretty much lifting him off, he got braver and would jump as long as Daddy held his hand. By the time the parade started Zack and Daddy were jumping side by side. He fell quite a few times but didn't get hurt and had a great time!

This was the first parade that we took Zack to and boy did he have a great time. Steve sat down on the curb and held Zack on his lap as the parade started. The second float in the parade started throwing candy to all the kids. Zack had no idea what was going on at first and didn't understand why they were throwing candy in the road. When Steve told him that he could grab the candy off the ground  it was like he went to heaven! He had such a good time running out about 5 feet and grabbing the candy. We put all the candy in his diaper bag and by the end of the parade there was so much candy in the diaper bag I couldn't zip it closed! He was also very excited to see Santa as he rode through the parade.

Zack had a great time playing with Aunt Janie, Uncle Butch, Charlotte, Charlie, Jason, and Kim this weekend. He also really enjoyed playing with Issac (the big dog). He and Uncle Butch played fetch with Issac until Issac and Zack both bent down to pick up the ball at the same time and knocked heads. Zack wasn't a big fan of Issac after that but kept going toward him so that he could pet him.

Zack decided that he didn't need to listen to Mommy and Daddy this weekend so we found a nice corner in the living room where he could have a time out. This worked great until Zack kept going over and sitting in the corner on his own then yelling across the house to me "Mommy come here Yachary in time out" or "Yachary in time out Mommy". I think this kind of defeats the purpose of a time out when he puts himself in there.

All in all it was a wonderful trip! It was nice to spend time with family and I love how well Zack got along with everyone.
