Zack and Mommy day!

Steve decided that he couldn't pass up all the snow that fell in VA the past couple days so he left at 5AM for a thunder run to Wintergreen. This left Zack and I on our own today.

My morning started when I woke up to Steve's text that he arrived safely. As I was reading it I sneezed a couple times and I hear "god bless you Mommy" over the monitor. I get this warm and fuzzy feeling at how sweet my son is and text it to Steve before I blow my nose. I don't think anything of it until I hear "Mommy blow nose. Yachary blow nose too" over the monitor. He is such a sweet boy!

We hung out at the house this morning and went shopping after Zack's nap. We had to pick up Zack's Christmas present from Grandma and Papa at the store (no, he didn't see it) and the lady behind us in line thought he was the best little thing. He talked to me the entire time we were waiting and she heard almost the entire conversation. Two of the highlights are: when the box came out, I crouched down to put it under the cart when he leans over and says "be careful Mommy" and then as I am signing for the package he says "yachary color too mommy" and gets upset when he can't. It amazes me how much he understands already of what goes on around him.

We had to visit another store after to try and find one more present for Daddy. I had to ask the sales guy for help and we had to wait a long time for him to get to us (why they only had one sales guy working in this popular section I don't know) so Zack got very antsy. It got to the point where he wouldn't listen so I had to pick him up so he wouldn't run all over the place. We were talking and I was singing (quietly) the Rudolph song when he says "yachary paint fingers". I said OK without really paying attention but then I focused on what he was doing and was surprised even though I shouldn't have been. He was chewing on the strings to the hood of the sweatshirt I was wearing and then using the saliva soaked strings to "paint his fingers". The only saving grace was that I was wearing Steve's sweatshirt:) Kristy - this one had to be for you!
